Presidents Message

Regent College of the Caribbean

President’s Message

I deem it a tremendous honour to greet you warmly from the office of the President of this noble institution which has been making a tremendous difference in the society.  In our sustained effort to effectively meet the needs of students, industry/Church, and the public and to remain dynamic and relevant RCC has consistently assessed and renewed its commitment to providing the highest quality education in our School of Bible and Theology, School of Business, School of Education and School of Continuing Education. This academic year we are venturing into the area of Allied Health. We are delighted to state that we will be offering the Diploma in Geriatric Care in collaboration with HEART Trust/NTA. It gives us great confidence to know that the college is fit for purpose and that our academic programmes meet international standards. We are very intentional in our effort to prepare our students to function effectively and efficiently not only in the Caribbean but also internationally.

We are committed to participate in the accomplishment of God’s missional-ecclesial mandate for theological education and related disciplines, as a tool to effect global restoration and transformation resulting in the acknowledgement of Christ as Lord of the universe.  It is our view that theological reflection is useless if the reflection does not positively impact the theological practitioner and bring positive change to the lives of others. Our philosophy states that “We believe that the education provided by Regent College of the Caribbean must be geared towards preparing participants to meet the needs of society and to demonstrate intellectual competence, integrity and professionalism at the highest level, as well as inspiring them to adopt standards consistent with Christian values, in order that they may positively impact society.” The advantage of doing courses in theology, early childhood education, business, Allied Health and continuing education at RCC is in the fact that students can benefit from a transformational and spiritually refreshing environment while having their academic needs met at the highest level. For us quality is far more important than quantity and the task of advancing God’s mission to reconcile individuals and communities with himself and to transform individuals and communities into the ways of wholeness, justice, and righteousness that God desires and intends must supersede even social recognition.

With our caring, competent and highly qualified faculty and staff we have taken a multidimensional approach to the delivery of education. In a culture where there is excessive fixation on the cognitive dimension of learning we have tailored our approach to reach the head, heart and hands thus balancing the cognitive, affective and behavioural domains of learning. Our aim is not merely getting our students to know but we want them to be able to do and to establish transformative relationships with our faculty and staff as well as their colleagues resulting in character formation. Jesus, our supreme example, established a relationship with His disciples and kept them close to him that they would be with Him and experience Him. We take a direct interest in connecting with and relating to our students in the context of family and community.

I am extremely proud of the persons who have graduated from RCC and are serving in various positions around the world and particularly in the Caribbean. We continue to receive testimonies concerning the impact that they are having in the schools where they teach, in churches where they serve and in the business enterprises that many of them are now leading. Our past-students are holding the RCC banner high. We have a clear picture of the ideal RCC graduate and we can guarantee that they have the touch of gold. We will not take for granted the quality of the students that we have been able to train for service to the church and society. Our graduates possess both the character and skills required to make a positive social impact wherever they serve.

We are extremely grateful for the partnerships that we have been able to establish with Global Ministries, Won by One to Jamaica missionary organization, HEART Trust/NTA and the articulation agreement that we have with Huntington University of Indiana, USA. It is also noteworthy that our Diploma in Theology and our Associate Degree in Business Studies programmes were recently re-accredited by the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) which is the statutory accrediting body in Jamaica.

There is overwhelming excitement in the air about the bright future of Regent College of the Caribbean. By God’s great grace we have been meeting and exceeding the targets of our 2015-2020 strategic plan. I encourage you to join with us and support us as we continue to improve our facilities, upgrade and add new programmes, maintain our quality culture and scaffold our students to the heights of excellence and increase their social impact in their churches and communities.  We do all this in accordance with our motto Omnia in Gloriam Dei ‘All for the glory of God’.
